Solving Kids’ Cancer UK
During the past year, the team at SKC were instrumental in mentoring, discussing and counselling us through our decision making. They are a team made up of parents who have lost their children to cancer and their empathy and compassion helped all of us to navigate the journey.
PASIC Cancer Support for Children & Young People
A charity that works with both Disney Ward at Northampton and E39 at QMC. They provide support to families of children with cancer in lots of ways, from petrol and expenses to trips and holidays, like our stay in Mablethorpe last summer. We have donated to PASIC as part of Sebastian’s legacy so they can go on to support local families at both hospitals.
Supporting Rainbows
We only stayed at Rainbows for two nights and didn’t make the most of the facilities as it was at the heart of the second Covid lockdown.
Rainbows acts as both somewhere for Children to relocate to so they don’t send their last weeks in hospital, and as a respite centre to provide facilities like swimming for children with complex medical needs.
We have donated a number of music therapy packages to Rainbows as part of Sebastian’s legacy – something he would have loved.
Isaac’s Helping Hands
Issac is a boy from Kettering who was at the same school as Sebastian’s cousins. He suffers from Batten’s Disease, a childhood version of dementia for which there is no cure.
Isaacs treatment will buy his family time to make precious memories, which is why we donated to Isaac as part of Sebastian’s legacy – we encourage you to click the link and do the same.
#BeMoreFab
Florence Bark is a seven year old girl from Corby who has Acute Myeloid Leukemia. She was diagnosed in May 2022 around the time Sebastian was in hospital following his first relapse – we initially met them at E39 back then.
Like Sebastian, Florence and her family have suffered from the side effects and repercussions of doing everything you can to save your child’s life. They are now doing all the can to raise awareness of AML and encourage people to donate stem calls.
Billy’s House
89 families stayed at Billy’s House in 2022.
Our first stay there was part of our mammoth journey through PCCU and was for 114 consecutive nights. We also stayed there for planned visits in 2021 and 2022 that totalled more than 60 nights.
Moving into Billys House was the most important thing for our own mental and physical health during that time. Just to be able to cook a meal rather than relying on the hospital restaurant!
We have donated to Billy’s House as part of Sebastian’s legacy so they can support families with essentials and food shopping during their stay.
The Northampton General Hospital Play Team
The amazing human beings who made a life spent in and out of hospital manageable for both Sebastian and us. We cannot express how brilliant these human beings are, which is why the £58,600 from Strictly for Sebastian has been donated to help them redevelop and renovate their outside play area. Please follow them and support them too.
Charlie, aged 11, has an aggressive tumour called Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG). His family need your help so that Charlie can fulfil a wishlist as long as your arm, whilst he still has the chance to. Any money you donate will go towards making precious memories for the family, and will enable his dad and step-mum to take the time to care for Charlie and enjoy the time they have left.
